ADITYA (ADI) RAGHUNANDAN

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Rochester. I work with Profs. Douglas Kelley and John Thomas in Mechanical Engineering, and Prof. Maiken Nedergaard in Neuroscience. I am currently studying brain fluid flow and its role in neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's.

My research goals are to discover the role of fluid transport in the development of diseases in the body and in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Specifically, I am interested in how fluid flow affects the structure and function of small biological molecules that control breathing, regulate brain health, and power cellular function. My work has practical applications in developing artificial lung surfactant therapy for neonates, diagnosing and treating neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s, and improving the formulation, stability, and shelf-life of cutting-edge therapeutic drug molecules and vaccines. I aim to leverage my research to create a transformative impact on human health.

I am a transport phenomena engineer with expertise in experimental fluid dynamics, advanced microscopy and imaging processing techniques, rheology, protein chemistry, cell and tissue culture, microfluidic device manufacture, and mathematical modeling
